Golden Hour Presents Art & Literature Teen Contest

On December 7th 2021, the Yorba Linda Library was holding an Art and Literature contest. The contest is called “Exposed: Golden Hour”. This contest is known as an art contest designed especially for teens ages 13-18.

Judging will be conducted by the Yorba Linda Arts Alliance, and judges’ decisions will be final. The contest had around 67 entries and 66 participants in the contest this year, including a participant that entered into both art and literature categories. “We are VERY happy with this turnout since we, unfortunately, had to cancel the contest last year.” says Alex Cauley, Ms. Cauley is a librarian in charge of teen services at the Yorba Linda Public Library. All of the requirements and rules are on the Yorba Linda Public Library; Exposed 2021 site.

“The EXPOSED contest was created in 2007 by a former teen librarian, Patricia Rivera, in partnership with the Nixon Library.” states Alex Cauley. According to Ms. Alex Cauley the contest was made for teens to express their creativity and to appreciate their work.

This year’s theme was chosen by Alex Cauley. The theme that was applied this year was named the “Golden Hour.” The Teen Advisory Board typically chooses a theme they think would be good for the springboard for creativity.

The contestants who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will all receive prizes and honorable gifts including target gift cards and certificates. “There are indeed gift card prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honorable Mention, People’s choice, and Staff Pick.” At the event everyone has a chance to express their creativity and art! Although the contest has ended there will be more opportunities in the future to enter.
