Mattel will be producing Barbie dolls made in the images of 17 women famous for making history, according to time.com.

Some of the women who will be memorialized in doll form include Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, soccer player Sara Grama, ballerina Yuan Tan, boxer Nicola Adams, Designer and Entrepreneur Vicky Martin Berrocal, conservationist  Bindi Irwin, Journalist Martyna Wojciechowska and more.

The cost and date at which the dolls will be available has not yet been disclosed.

Mattel was inspired by the desire to create positive role models. “These women come from diverse backgrounds and fields and are breaking boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls…With 81 percent of moms globally worried about the type of role models their daughters are exposed to, Barbie is igniting a conversation around the importance of positive role models,” Lisa McKnight, senor vice president of Mattel’s barbie brand stated.

“Barbie honors women who have broken boundaries in their fields and have been an inspiration to the next generation of girls with a one-of-a-kind doll made in their likeness,” stated Mattel,according to Huffpost.com

Barbie’s have been around since her world changing debut on March 9, 1959. And little girls everywhere have been playing with the 1 billion+ dolls that have been sold worldwide.
