Anaya Ellick a First-Grader Born Without Hands, Wins National Handwriting Contest
Anaya Ellick is a 7 year old first-grader born without hands who won the Nicholas Maxim national handwriting contest beating out 50 other youngsters in Greenbrier Christian Academy in Chesapeake, Virginia on May 10, 2016, stated Mnn.
Greenbrier Christian Academy principal, Tracy Cox, urged Anaya to enter the contest, which is open to children in kindergarten to eighth grade. Tracy stated, “ Handwriting is an important skill because the rise of technology declines writing skills.” In order to write, Anaya holds her pencil between her arms and stands at her desk to get the right angle for writing. Zaner-Bloser announced the winners at the 2016 American Occupational Therapy Association National Conference & Expo in Chicago, Illinois. a framed certificate and a Zaner-Bloser gift certificate will be given to the winning schools, stated abc news.
“When she wanted to draw, she learned how to balance a crayon or marker between her arms,” the Pilot wrote. Her mother, Bianca Middleton, said they were “slowing her down more than helping.”She is a hard worker. She is determined. She is independent. She is vivacious and a no-excuses type of young lady,” she added, Reported people.com
As a toddler, she learned to eat with a fork and build with blocks. Though Anaya was fitted with prosthetic arms for a short time, the young girl decided she was better off with her natural ones and discarded them. As it turns out, she was right! Though winning the handwriting award was thrilling, Anaya has already moved on to her next goal — She now wants to master karate, Added dogonews.

I like how you put in that she learned how to do certains things with determination at her young age. Doing something is good but beating people with her disadvantage is awesome.
