Knott’s Goes Pink For Cancer Awareness

Knott’s Berry Farm has turned pink to spread the message of raising money and awareness of Breast Cancer. Knott’s will raise money for Susan G. Komen in Orange County, a local affiliate of the national nonprofit that provides Breast Cancer awareness, charities, services, and research through March 18, OC Register reported.

Visitors can purchase a “Pink Ticket” online and receive a commemorative black and pink “Knott’s for the cure” t-shirt and entry to the park and a portion of the proceeds of each ticket goes to Susan G. Komen Orange County Charity. For more Information go to:

Since the partnership began in 2014, Knott’s has raised more than $230,000 and more pink lights have been added in the second year of 2015.

“On top of ticket sales, Knott’s turning the park pink is another way of raising money,and we’re excited to have such a great partner in the community helping raise awareness and funds in such a unique way through ticket sales, limited edition Pink merchandise and turning the park pink!” stated Julie Guevara, the Susan G. Komen Orange County spokeswoman, in an interview with the Matador Messenger.

Pink “Knott’s for the Cure” signs inside the park greet the customers as they come in and can read the stories and photos of breast cancer survivors on the lining fences.

Guevara believes that having Knott’s go pink can bring breast cancer awareness to many teenage park goers. “One thing that we would want teens to know about the disease and how it can affect families as well as volunteer opportunities that we have here.”

The Susan G. Komen started out when  Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever in 1980. In 1982, that promise became the Susan G. Komen organization and the beginning of a global movement. What was started with $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names has now grown into the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. To date, they have invested more than $2.6 billion in groundbreaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 30 countries.
