“From baby time to now, I wanted to be a Disney princess and then I wanted to be a singer or an actress,” explained Auli’i Cravalho, according to People Magazine. Auli’i Cravalho, 14 has always dreamed of being a Disney princess since she was a little girl.
The Disney movie Moana will be released on November 26, 2016 and will be starring Dwayne Johnson as Moana’s opposite. The movie is about a 14 year old girl, Moana, who is in search of a mythical island once desired by her parents. Moana will be Disney’s first Polynesian princess who will be accompanied by a Hawaiian demigod, Dwayne Johnson, according to Huffington Post.
When Disney was searching for young women that had the voice and potential of being a Disney Princess, Auli’i’s agent was looking out for her. Auli’i didn’t think she was good enough to audition. Her agent discovered her talent during a charity event. Auli’i was then rushed to Los Angeles where Ron Clements and John Musker casted her.
Moana has many characteristics such as an amazing character, brave, empowered, and knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it.
“Moana is such an amazing character,” says Cravalho, “She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way,” stated Auli’i, according to People Magazine.
