Aaron Hernandez Convicted of Murder

Aaron Hernandez, former Patriot’s 25 year old tight end, was convicted of murdering his close friend, Odin Lloyd, in the first degree, on Wednesday, April 15, reported cnn.com.

According to bostonglobe.com, Hernandez, who once had a $40 million contract, was sentenced to life imprisonment, without the possibility of parole. He shook his head in disapproval as the verdict was announced in Bristol Superior Court.

“Odin was my first, best gift I ever received,” Ursula Ward, Lloyd’s mother stated. She continued, “I thank God [for] every second and every day of my son’s life that I spent with him. I forgive the hands of the people who had a hand in my son’s murder, either before or after.”

The star tight end was tied to the murder case due to the hard evidence that was claimed against him. The main evidence used in the case was security camera video inside Hernandez’s house. The video showed him holding what looked like a glock pistol just minutes after Lloyd’s murder. Hernandez’s fiance, Shayanna Jenkins, testified that the NFL star had told her to dispose of a bag that was in the basement, according to CNN.

“To this day — we just went through a three-month trial, and this is now two years later — we still don’t know the exact time of Odin’s murder,” one of the jurors said. “So I don’t know how Aaron would have had that information two years ago.”
