National Park Week 2014 Celebrates Earth Day
In honor of Earth Day, The National Park Service has teamed up with the National Park Foundation to create “National Park Week.” This event will take place on April 19-27 and will include Earth friendly activities throughout the weekwww.nps.gov reported.
The National Park Foundation has also collaborated with Disney to create the new Disneynature “Bears” film on Friday, April 18. If you see the film during the opening week (April 18-24), Disneynature will donate on your behalf to the National Park Foundation to protect wildlife and wild places nature.disney.com stated.
All national parks will have a free entrance fee for the opening weekend (April 19-20) if not already not free. The theme of National Park Week 2014 is “National Park Week: Go Wild!” www.nationalparks.org stated.
The rest of National Park Week (April 21-27) will have Junior Ranger Days with activities and special events dedicated to the Earth www.dc.about.comreported. To be a participant in the Junior Ranger Days, you must be 6-14 years of age. You will take hikes and earn badges as well as participating in fun activitieswww.examiner.com reported.
You can participate in this year’s National Park Week by visiting the free parks, taking hikes, and enjoying the Earth by cleaning up trash. Your local city may host other activities this Earth Day so don’t forget to be involved.
