- 85% of all valentines are purchased by women.
- 1 out of 5 valentines go to parents every year.
- 3% of all pet owners will give their pet a Valentine’s Day gift.
- In the middle ages, young men and women would draw names from a bowl to see who their valentine would be. They would wear the person’s name on their sleeve for a week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for people to tell how you are feeling.
- Verona, an Italian city, where Romeo and Juliet from Shakespeare lived, receives about one thousand letters addressed to Juliet a year.
- Richard Cadbury invented the first Valentine’s Day candy box in the 1800’s.
