Ms. Fisher Selects Mahlya Blanks as Student of the Week

BMYS seventh-grader, Mahlya Blanks in Ms. Shah’s homeroom class, has been selected by Ms. Fisher as the student of the week. She says Mahlya is a very persistent and determined individual.

Mahlya’s first reaction to being chosen was that she was, “happy that I have been chosen.” She finds science lessons fun in school. Mahlya says she appreciates that her teacher is “nice to kids that don’t learn or pay attention.” During the BYMS 2021-22 school year, Mahlya found learning about “M’Kenna’s” small and large intestines challenging. Outside of school, she enjoys, volleyball, basketball, cooking and watching anime.

Ms. Fisher says Mahlya stood out from all the other students due to her “focus on improvement.” Mahlya excelled at, “a creative writing project” where she “provided a written story that brought her character to life.” She is a role model for the other students because she doesn’t give up.

Overall, Mahlya is creative, detail-oriented, and a great OLÉ demonstrating student.
