“Like you said, it’s a process, it’s a journey and we all have a focus and go and we’ll figure it out tomorrow how we’re gonna get there,” Toronto Raptor’s small forward Kawhi Leonard, a former NBA finals 2019 MVP spoke at the full press conference on NBA Media Day, held in Los Angeles on October 1st, 2019, as reported by nba.com.
Big, gigantic, significant trades were processed right after the end of the 2018-19 season. The expectation is that with these trades, some teams may be “transformed,” reported cbssports.com.
For example, Leonard, was traded to the Clippers with Paul George. Although the Golden State Warriors lost both Kevin Durant (Small Forward) and Demarcus Cousins (Center), they received DeAngelo Russell (Point Guard), according to basketballinsiders.com.
According to espn.com, the Warriors traded Kevin Durant to the Brooklyn Nets for DeAngelo Russell and the Celtics left Kyrie Irving as a free agent. When this happened, the Nets were able to sign Kyrie Irving to the team. With both of these NBA stars on one team, the Nets could have a chance to make it into the NBA finals to be held on June 4, 2020.
The Raptors and Clippers face off at 7:30 pm in LA on November 11th (Pacific Time). This game is special because the Raptors traded Kawhi Leonard to the Clippers. Will Kawhi Leonard beat his former team or will he take a devastating loss?
The New Orleans Pelicans take on the Lakers on November 27 at 6:30 pm. Anthony Davis was traded to the Lakers by the Pelicans and he will be facing his former teammates.
Although the Lakers have Lebron James and Anthony Davis, the Pelicans received Zion Williamson in the first round of the 2019 NBA draft. Williamson, according to nba.com, “has the potential to change the course of whatever franchise he goes to.”
“The quick-twitch athleticism he exhibits moving side to side and the unmatched explosiveness he shows when soaring above the rim is unlike anything a 6’7″, 280-pound man should be able to do but he defies logic by making those jaw-dropping plays with regularity,” added the source.
Expect a major clash when the Lakers take on the Clippers taking place at Staples Center, Los Angeles, on October 22, at 10:30 p.m.. During the off season, both teams have received some superstars. For example, the Lakers have received Anothony Davis, Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins, and a former champion Danny Green according to nba.com.
Not to be outdone, the Clippers received Paul Goerge and former NBA finals M.V.P. Kawhi Leanord, some of the two best defenders in the NBA. ESPN states on their NBA Power Rankings that the Clippers are the third best team and the Lakers are the sixth best team. “Everybody wants to see the new superstar duos on Los Angeles’ NBA teams in action. And if they can see them both at the same time, even better,” wrote Chuck Schilken in a Los Angeles Times article.“Now the real fun begins. It’s time for training camp, followed quickly by actual preseason games. Before you know it, the Raptors will be raising their championship banner, handing out rings and hosting Zion Williamson for his first NBA game Oct. 22,” wrote ESPN. Hold your hats, glasses, jerseys, and your team loyalty and get ready for this wild season ahead.
