85-year-old Katherine Beiers finished the Boston Marathon Monday afternoon with an unofficial time of 7-hours and 50-minutes, KPIX.com.

Beiers was the oldest of the 29,978 runners who entered prestigious race. She is also the oldest person to ever cross the finish line. Beiers lives currently in Santa Cruz and was actually the mayor of the city in 1993. In order to train for the marathon, Beiers ran 45 miles per week around Santa Cruz, KCBS.com.

Beiers ran with her son John. After the race, the two went to a local hotel bar. Beiers reported to the press “Beer is my recovery drink”, BAA.com.
