Russell Wilson, an NFL quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, signed with the New York Yankees on February 7, according to ESPN.com.
Wilson has been playing for Seattle for about six years and is starting Quarterback for Seattle. Russell Wilson won the 2014 Super Bowl 2014 against Denver, but lost 2015 to New England. Seattle made the playoffs in 2016 and 2017, but failed to make the NFC championship according to ESPN.com.
On joining the Yankees, Wilson stated about the event, “It was a childhood dream that I promised my dad that I’d be a yankee some day, this is the team I loved, this is the team I had a passion about, to wear the yankee cap, to put this uniform on is a dream come true,” to usatoday.com.
Russell Wilson’s NFL contract is worth at least $61.53 million to $81.6 million for an estimated 4 years. Wilson’s MLB contract with the yankees is worth $22 million to about $61 million for an estimated 2 years not on full time. Russell Wilson did not sign a full time contract due to his success in the NFL, explained NFL.com.
