NFL Kicked Off New Season With The Chiefs Vs. The Patriots

The Kansas City Chiefs’ win against the New England Patriots kicked off the 2017-2018 NFL season. The Chiefs stunned the Patriots by winning with the final score of 42-27, according to espn.com.

Twelve games were played on Sunday, September 10th. The Miami Dolphins vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. Two games were played on Monday, September 11th, according to cbssports.com.

Many players were injured in week one of the NFL season, including when Arizona Cardinals’ running back, David Johnson, recovering from wrist surgery, as a result of an injury sustained  during the September 10th game against the Detroit Lions., according to si.com.

The Houston Texans played against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, September 10th. J.J. Watt, Defensive Lineman for the Texans, played for the first time since injuring his hand last season. Although the Texans lost with a score of 29-7,  fans were excited to see their first round pick, Deshaun Watson, play during the second half, according to ftw.usatoday.com.

Watt, who has spent his football career in Houston for the last seven years, set a goal to raise $200,000 to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.. With the help of the Tennessee Titans, Watt has collected $ 30,000,000.”That’s from a team in our division, one of our rivals, but stepping up for the greater good of the people. I cannot thank you enough,” Watt stated, according to nfl.com.

Talk show host, Ellen Degeneres, also donated a $1,000,000 as well. “This was truly unbelievable. “Thank you Ellen,” Watt stated after seeing the donation, as reported by businessinsider.com.
