In Game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Nashville Predators rookie, Kevin Fiala, suffered a lower-body injury in a collision with the boards, on Wednesday, April 26, stated foxsports.com.
Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo was back checking his way to his net, trying to stop Fiala from scoring and ended up pushing him into the end boards awkwardly, reported ftw.usatoday.com.
With his legs folded awkwardly the Predators rookie was in a large amount of pain and Predators medical staff headed to the ice fast. Fiala was taken off the ice on a stretcher and located to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to nhl.nbcsports.com.
Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile stated, “Fiala went under successful surgery and will miss the rest of the playoffs.”
