EHS Wrestlers Take First In Tournament

Four Esperanza wrestlers, Aaron Nagao, Germain Mendez, Josh Brown and Isaiah Mora, placed first in the Esperanza Wrestling Tournament held at Esperanza High School on January 7, 2017.
The Esperanza wrestling team placed 3rd out of 24 teams, and only competed in 11 out of 14 weights, according to Head Coach Christian Holiday.
The men’s team is currently ranked #2 in Orange County, with league finals one week away.
Esperanza junior, Isaiah Mora, was the tournament MVP.
“I’m very proud how the team continues to improve day after day and month after month. Several of these kids did not start wrestling until they were freshman, they put in the hard work and it’s great to see it paying off,” stated Coach Holiday in an interview with the Matador Messenger.
