“I think we are an experienced team for the most part.  We have several seniors that have game experience,” stated Jeff Bailey, Yorba Linda High School’s head football coach.

In the season opener, the Mustangs beat Valencia High School on Friday, September 2, at Valencia High School, 14-13.

“We played real hard for 4 quarters,” stated Coach Bailey. “Defense struggled early, but got acclimated to the speed of the game and shut them out in the second half.  Noah Lines played extremely well at linebacker,” stated Coach Bailey.

Mason Winter, running back, had a very good game running the ball for the Mustangs, according to Coach Bailey.

The standout players Coach Bailey is counting on are Mason Winter, running back, Luke Williams, wide receiver, Noah Lines, linebacker, Jacob Dennison, defensive line, Bryce Johnson, offensive line, and Luke Wilson, quarterback.

In addition to working on tactical skills on the field, Coach Bailey realizes that being able to motivate his players is a key to having a good season.

“Well we work extremely hard to prepare ourselves for the season.  The motivation is that we get to play games and play well from all our hard work,” stated Coach Bailey.

The Mustangs will be facing Sonora High School on Thursday, September 15, at Shapell Stadium, at 7pm.
