Mustang’s Baseball Prepares for Season with “Solid D and Effective Pitching”
“Our goal is to make the playoffs,” stated Coach Stine.
“If we play solid D (defense), execute offensively, and the pitchers can throw strikes we will do well,” stated YLHS Varsity Baseball Coach, Matt Stine, about the prospects for his men’s baseball team the season. “Our goal is to make the playoffs.”
Coach Stine sees everyone in the Century League Conference as a tough competitor to face, “especially Esperanza and El Dorado.”
“We play in the Loara tournament, and every team we play is tough,” explained Stine, who has set up a non league, preseason game schedule to face the best opponents to prepare the Mustangs for the high level of competition in their league.
All 20 players on the baseball team are “stand out.” “Everyone on this team knows their role and they contribute in their own unique way,” according to Stine.
“Seeing the success of a player after his hard work pays off,” explained Stine about the success of his players. “Seeing them grow and understanding that what they learn on the baseball field will someday be utilized in their life’s choices and decisions.”
He spends time with them daily, and they motivate him to be out there everyday.
YLHS’s opening season game is against Brea Olinda on Tuesday, March 15 at YLHS at 3:15PM.
It so much fun to watch the team play and play hard is what they are doing keep up the good work and have fun when you play. To me that makes a good team when you can count on each team member to do the best they can do all the way up to the coaches. PLAY HARD & HAVE FUN
