“We will have a more versatile, deeper look than we had last year,” stated Mike Scioscia, Los Angeles Angels manager, while in Arizona for spring training. “There is no doubt. I think we’re retooled in a little different way than we’ve seen the last couple years. I think we’ll resemble a lot of the things that we did well for a long time, not relying so much on four guys hitting the ball out of the park.”

Plenty of optimism is surrounding 2016, with first basemen, Albert Pujols not being ready for opening day, others guys on the roster will get a chance to step up and provide a spark in the batting department, according to halohangout.com.

Albert Pujols has been swinging the bat, but he will not be allowed to take part on defense by the time he reports to Angels camp on Wednesday, February 24. Pujols is basically 3 1/2 months into his recovery from early November surgery on his right foot, a procedure that was expected to keep him out of full baseball activities until early to mid-March, according to m.mlb.com.

“But if you know Albert, you know that he’s always come back quicker than any timeline he’s ever been given,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Thursday February 18, the day pitchers and catchers reported for their physicals. “But we’re definitely not going to try to sacrifice the lion’s share of the season to get him back maybe two weeks before he should. When he’s ready, he’s ready.”

According to m.angels.mlb.com, CJ Wilson does not believe the tendinitis that recently bothered his throwing shoulder will keep him from being ready by opening day on Monday, Apr 4, 2016 . Wilson had some trouble warming up for a bullpen session on Saturday, then underwent a precautionary MRI on Monday, February 22 that revealed what general manager Billy Eppler considered “mild tendinitis.”

During the 2015 season, the Angels mastered a record of 85 wins and 77 losses. According to theknoxstudent.com, new additions to the Angel’s defense like SS Andrelton Simmons and 3B Yunel Escobar will give the Angels hope to make the playoffs this season. With Jered Weaver aging and CJ Wilson failing to live up to his huge contract, the Angels starting rotation is weak.

The Angels will need another historic season from Mike Trout, as well as improved play by their starters, to have a successful season, according to theknoxstudent.com.
