Los Angeles Clippers Going to China for NBA Global Games

For the second time in three years, the Los Angeles Clippers will be playing in China for two exhibition games. The Clippers are going to play the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA’s first-game in Shenzhen, China, at the Shenzhen Universidad Center, Oct. 11 at the Shenzhen Universiade Center, according to nba.com.

The game will be followed  by a rematch in Shanghai on Oct. 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The games in China will be part of NBA Global Games 2015, with additional games announced at a later date. the NBA announced, according to LA Times.

Returning to China to participate in the NBA Global Games China is another important step in establishing the Clippers as a first-class international franchise,” Clippers owner Steve Ballmer said in a statement, according to LA Times.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a release the games “not only bring the excitement of NBA action directly to Chinese fans, but will also provide the league another opportunity to experience the rich history and culture of China,” according to Fox Sports.

The Clippers will be making their second visit to China after taking part in the Global Games in 2012 against the Miami Heat. The Clippers also have recently played international preseason games in Mexico City (2010) and Russia (2006), according to NBA.com/clippers.
