Los Angeles Kings defenseman, Slava Voynov, has been suspended indefinitely from all club activities pending a formal investigation by the National Hockey League. The player was arrested October 20th  on charges of domestic violence, according to

The suspension was imposed under Section 18-A.5 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which provides that, during the pendency of a criminal investigation, “The League may suspend the Player pending the League’s formal review and disposition of the matter where the failure to suspend the Player during this period would create a substantial risk of material harm to the legitimate interests and/or reputation of the League,” said Redondo Beach Police on Monday afternoon, according to

Voynov was arrested at a hospital in Torrance where the alleged victim of a domestic violence incident was being treated for her injuries. After an investigation, Voynov, who was also present at the hospital, was taken into custody, reported

According to,  Redondo Beach police officers questioned the woman, conducted an investigation, and determined she had been a victim of domestic violence. A child was also present in the home where the incident occurred, which could escalate or add charges that could potentially be filled under Slava Voynov’s arrest,according to

“These developments are of great concern to our organization,” the Kings said in a statement. “We support the NHL’s decision to suspend Slava Voynov indefinitely during this process, and we will continue to take appropriate action as the legal proceedings and the investigation by the NHL takes their course,”

The NHL announced Slava Voynov will appear in court in Torrance, California on Dec.1 2014.
