Archaeologists are astounded by the discovery of a mummification workshop in the sandy deserts of Ancient Egypt.

“CAIR-Archaeologists in Egypt stumble upon a new discovery dating back to more than 2,500 years ago near Egypt’s famed pyramids at an ancient necropolis south of Cairo. The discovery which includes a mummification workshop and a shaft, used as a communal burial place, ” reported Nypost. CAIR made this amazing discovery roughly after 9pm on July 13.

This discovery was located at the “Saqqara necropolis of Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt,” stated Nypost. Memphis is famous for its Egyptian heritage and it’s vase living and building space. “… Memphis was the first capital of ancient Egypt and its large necropolis houses, a wide range of temples and tombs, as well as the three pyramids of Giza,” explained Fox News .

According to Fox News, the latest find was announced in a press conference on Saturday, the day after the discovery was made. The intriguing findi belongs to the Satie-Persian Era which lasted from 664 B.C. through 404 B.C. According to Fox News , the site was evacuated over 100 years ago, in 1900.

“Among the artifacts found, were a gilded silver mummy mask, that belonged to a priest, fragments of mummy cartonnages, canopic cylindrical jars and marl clay and faience cups,” reported Fox News. Many of these fascinating artifacts are on display at the currently constructed Grand Egyptian Museum.

Along with the many amazing artifacts, there was a discovery of many mummies. “The shaft is comprised of burial chambers carved into the bedrock lining the sides of two hallways…”

“In the mummification workshop, an embalmers casket was found, that archaeologists believe will reveal more about the oils used in the mummification process during the 26th dynasty,” stated Fox News.

There is still more to discover in this brand new adventure! “And this is just the beginning!,” responded Archeologist Khaled al-Anani.
