Dad doesn’t need another tie or “Greatest Dad” mug or even a pine scented candle. So what’s a teen to do when trying to show appreciation for dad on Junes 17th, well we here at “Cheap But Chic” have you covered with some fresh ideas for food items, gifts, and decorations to honor your dad on Father’s Day.

Basketball and Baseball Cupcakes

These treats are perfect for any sports fan with a sweet tooth.

  • One package of white cake mix

  • Eggs (amount needed depends on cake mix)

  • Oil (amount needed depends on cake mix)

  • Water (amount needed depends on cake mix )

  • Vanilla frosting

  • Orange food coloring

  • Red and black icing
    Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to necessary temperature based on your cake mix

  2. Put baking cups into cupcake pan

  3. Mix  ingredients based on cake package

  4. Poor your cake batter into the baking cups and bake for necessary amount of time

  5. Remove baking pan and let them cool completely

  6. If you are doing baseball cupcakes frost them white and use red icing to create two curved lines and draw small lines over them so they will look like this

8. If you are doing basketball cupcakes frost using orange frosting and use black icing to draw one black line down the middle of the cupcake and three horizontal lines over it. They should look like this

Fathers Day Pancakes

These pancakes are the perfect way to start any Father’s Day.

Ingredients:

  • Pancake Mix

  • Whip Cream (Optional)

  • Sprinkles (Optional)

  • Syrup (Optional)

  • Water (Depends on Pancakes).

  • Eggs (Depends on Pancakes).

  • Large sandwich bag

Directions:

  1. Mix the pancake mix with ingredients stated on the back on the package

  2. Heat your pancake griddle, pan, or whatever you are using to fry the pancaked.

  3. Put pancake mix into the bag. Cut a hole on the corner of the bag.

  4. Holding the bag like a plastic squeeze bottle use the pancake batter to spell the words dad.

  5. Follow the rest of the directions on the mix to determine baking time

  6. If you would like to add topping use syrup, sprinkles, whip cream or any other toppings to decorate your pancake.

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

These sweet chocolate chip cookies are simple and fun to make.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups flour

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

  • ¾ cups of brown sugar

  • ¾ cups of sugar

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

  • 2 sticks of butter

  • 2 eggs

  • Chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees

  2. Mix flour, salt, and baking soda in a medium sized bowl. This is the dry mix.

  3. Beat together brown sugar, sugar, vanilla, and butter until creamy. This is the wet mix

  4. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each new addition

  5. Add small amounts of dry mix to the wet mix and beat until completely incorporated. Continue until both mixes are completely combined

  6. Add chocolate chips and mix

  7. Use a small spoon to put the cookies dough into balls and put them on a baking pan. Keep each ball of cookie dough separated.

  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the sides are golden brown

Father’s Day Root Beer Centerpieces

These cute bouquets are easy, fun, and perfect for decorating any table.

Ingredients:

  • Flowers

  • Root beer bottles

  • Water

Directions:

  1. Empty out the root beer bottles.

  2. Rinse the insides

  3. Fill it up again with water.

  4. Put your flowers into the root beer bottle

DIY Tie Cards

These simple tie cards are thoughtful and fun to make.

Ingredients:

  • Colorful paper

  • Scissors

  • Hole puncher

  • Glue sticks

Directions:

  1. Cut out a tie shape in your colorful paper. If needed find a tie template online

  2. Use the hole punch to make small circles on a different piece of paper and glue them onto the tie

  3. You could also cut out thin strips of paper and make stripes on the tie instead.

  4. Then you can glue the tie on the front of a folded piece of paper.

  5. Open up the paper and decorate as you wish.
