Parents wanting to teach their children a greater sense of self reliance and discovery may appreciate Yoto,a speaker/player system featured on Kickstarter that is designed to allow children to choose and play their own music.

“Yoto is a clever speaker for kids- designed by families using Montessori principles to put children in control,” stated the Yoto Team in an interview with the Matador Messenger.

This speaker is intended for children ages two years old and older. The speaker system is designed for easy use by placing a card with choice  of song into the system by placing a card into the slot at the top of the speaker. Included are such song choices as nursery rhymes, radio around the world, and classical music.

“Yoto has been in the making for over two years now, and came about when myself and co- founder, Filip, realised that there is so much amazing kids’ content in the world – from stories to music to learning tools,” reported Ben Drury, Founder and CEO of Yoto, in an interview with the Matador Messenger.

Yoto has two buttons on each side to skip back or to skip forward/ change the volume,on the front it also has a 16 by 16 pixel display, colorful surfaces, and a 5 watt speaker.

With a Yoto Speaker comes the Yoto Library. The Yoto Library consists of six cards such as music and stories, learning, radio, and  podcasts, Yoto daily, and make your own.

Yoto Daily keeps kids up to date on the latest topics of the season. Kids can also find out interesting facts such as who was the last man on the moon, celebrate the first day of spring, and much more. You can even find out the weather for each day.

A make your own card is when you use your own information and use the Yoto app to make it.For example,if you have several songs you want to listen to on Yoto, just use the app by downloading your album and then the wait until the Yoto Team will send you a card to put into the speaker.

Over time, the speaker grows and adjusts along with the child, according to yotoplay.com.

“The most rewarding thing is seeing children’s faces when they play with Yoto for the first time,” stated the Yoto Team in an interview with the Matador Messenger.

On Kickstarter, the Yoto Team is trying to raise $26,341 by Tuesday December 5, 2017. If you back them up on kickstarter.com, you will receive rewards.
