Releasing this list makes it easier for shoppers to avoid pesticides and stay healthy, according to mnn.com.
According to mnn.com, when buying produce from the dirty dozen list, it is best to purchase organic fruits and vegetables to avoid the chemicals, while the produce from the clean fifteen list is safe to purchase the conventional versions to save money.
Pesticides are meant to kill insects, pests, and unwanted fungi, according to dictionary.com. This is why it can be harmful to all humans, and especially harmful to children with weak immune systems.
“Research “suggests that pesticides may induce chronic health complications in children, including neurodevelopmental or behavioral problems, birth defects, asthma, and cancer,” stated authors of a 2012 American Academy of Pediatricians report, according to EWG, stated by cnn.com.
