Wild Rivers Water Park Set to Finish Construction in Summer 2022

Wild Rivers, a water theme park, is coming soon to the Great Park in Irvine.

The reconstruction of Wild Rivers began on July 7, 2021 and is predicted to be completed in the summer of 2022, located in Irvine Great Park. Before its remodeling, the water park had previously been operating for 25 years – from 1986 to 2011 – according to enjoyorangecounty.com

According to enjoyorangecounty.com, the park was located on land that was originally home to Lion Country Safari, a drive-through zoo. When the zoo went bankrupt, the land was leased to Wild Rivers, but the Irvine Co. (owners of Wild Rivers) chose not to renew the lease in 2011. After many years, the water park has finally found a new home. “Wild Rivers owner and president Mike Riedel never gave up hope on finding a new place to rebuild Wild Rivers in Orange County,” stated Spectrum News

The park will include multiple thrill rides such as the “Tortuga”,, “Aquaconda”, and Bora Bompe Bomerango.  In addition, family friendly rides inside the park are: Cooks Cove, Kontiki Cove, Castaway River, and the famed Shaka Bay. The park also has lockers located near the ride “Typhoon”, restrooms scattered throughout the park, first aid, guest services, and tickets near the entrance. Restaurants and food carts in the park include, Ono’s Snack Shack, Island Sweets, the Mustang Bar and Grill and Pacific Grille.

In order to keep  lower capacity, and lower waiting times, reservations are needed and are made online. Reservations for the park are able to be made in person or on the day of but it is highly unrecommended because the park fills up quickly. Unfortunately, season passes are sold out and are not available this year, since the park only has a limited number of passes available.

The park will also offer seasonal jobs for 18 year olds and older such as guest arrivals, food service cook, Park services sweeper, and the vault room clerk. Links for these jobs can be viewed here:(job info). The jobs do require an interview process where they will look for certain qualifications within the interviewee that will help the park.

Wild Rivers’ main goal is to ensure that their guests have an enjoyable experience and will not have their time wasted by waiting in lines (in order to have  more time to enjoy the park). “It’s about riding rides not waiting in line for them…Our goal is for everyone to be able to experience the best rides and the best customer experience in the newest and best waterpark, ” stated wildrivers.com.
