On January 6th, 2021, thousands of US citizens drove, walked, and flew to Washington DC, to protest the election of Joesph Biden as the 46 US President on January 6th, 2021 at the US capital. What started as a peaceful protest full of US citizens exercising their First Amendment rights, ended with 5 people dead, and many injured.

Because of the riots, the US government deployed over 25,000 armed National Guards to the DC area. Five people died on January 6th at the US capital. These people included Brian Sicknick, Ashli Babbitt, Kevin Greeson,  Rosanne Boyland, and Benjiman Philips.

While two of the people who died suffered health-related issues, the other three people died due to complications of the riots.  Nytimes.com  Capital Police Officer Brian Sicknick was killed by rioters after being struck multiple times in the head with a fire extinguisher. Ashli Babbitt was shot by police as she was climbing through a broken window of the capital building with a Trump 2020 flag tied to her neck, Rosanne Boyland is said to have died “…in a crush of fellow rioters during their attempt to fight through a police line…” states nytimes.com.

There were many people who intended on hurting members of the police, and Congress. According to reuters.com, a truck was found near the capital, and multiple weapons were found in the bed of the truck.
