California Mudslides Leave 17 Dead, 8 Missing

At least 17 people have been killed, and 8 people have been reported missing. One person however, has recently been identified at Ventura Catholic School, reported ABC news

His name was Roy Rohter, and he was the founder of the Catholic school. The headmaster of the school, Michael Van Hecke, had a few things to say.

“Roy’s life has been in service to his good, loving and ever-forgiving God,” Hecke said.

“He has done so much for so many people and pro-life and Catholic education causes. … Thousands have been blessed by the Rohters’ friendship and generosity,” added Hecke.

Along with the headmaster, many people had kind words to say about Roy, including the President of his daughter’s college.

“Roy Rohter was a man of strong faith and a great friend of Catholic education.”

“A founder and benefactor of classical Catholic schools, he played a pivotal role in the lives of countless young Catholic students – students who came to a deeper knowledge and love of Christ because of his vision, commitment, and generosity” he reported to ABC News.

According to KTLA News, 3 people are still missing after the fatal mudslides in Montecito.
