A bomb exploded at an Ariana Grande concert, leaving 19 dead and 59 injured, in Manchester, England on Monday, May 22nd, according to nytimes.com.

The explosion occurred around 10:35 P.M. just after Ariana Grande had ended her show. The incident at Manchester Arena was a suicide bombing and police identified the bomber as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. Witnesses believed that the attack appeared to involve the use of nail bomb. North West Ambulance Critical Care Transport has said that there were 60 ambulances that attended the Manchester Arena because of the blast. Joseph Carozza, a representative from Grande’s U.S. record label, said the singer is O.K. and they are investigating what happened, stated cbs.com.

Police had advised the public to avoid the area around the arena. “A huge bomb-like bang went off that hugely panicked everyone and we were all trying to flee the arena,” concertgoer Majid Khan, 22, told Britain’s Press Association. “It was one bang and essentially everyone from the other side of the arena where the bang was heard from suddenly came running towards us as they were trying to exit,” according to cbs.com.

The Manchester Victoria Station, which is under the arena, was also evacuated and all of the trains were canceled. Britain’s terrorist threat level is set as “severe” in recent years so there is a likely chance of an attack like this one, reported foxnews.com.
