Former Cuban President Castro Dead at Ninety

Fidel Castro, former president of Cuba and famous geopolitician, died on Friday November 26, 2016 in Santiago de Cuba Province, Cuba at the age of 90 by diverticular disease. Cuban government declared 9 days of remembrance for the former president.

Castro was born August 13, 1926. Castro was born into a family of 14 in Biran, Cuba. The young Castro did not plan to go to school but he was set on it. Castro was also an exceptionally good athlete.In 1945 Castro went to law school at the University of Havana, where commonly gang fights, student activism, and violence happened. Castro was not known for being a leader at a young age however, Castro made a reputation of being ambitious and a being a great public speaker. (

Castro shortly left school to join an expedition led by writer named Juan Bosch to overthrow the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo. Castro had his first child in 1953.

In 1959 Castro led revolutionary forces to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista ( From then on the Castros ruled Cuba. On April 17, 1961, 1400 Cuban exiles launched what became a botched invasion at the Bay of Pigs on the south coast of Cuba. Castro lasted through 11 U.S. presidents and an estimated 638 attempted assassinations on Castro just from the C.I.A.. The C.I.A. tried to kill Castro so much because he was a dangerous and smart man that almost started a nuclear war. (

In 2008 Castro’s brother Raul Castro became president. In 2009 and 2010, Castro was even featured in two video games. In 2009 Castro was in the Godfather 2 video game and in 2010 he was in Call of Duty: Black Ops

After all the things Castro did his life came to an end on Friday November 23, 2016. There were 9 days of mourning for the late Fidel Castro. At the end of those 9 days, Castro’s ashes were put in a chest and put inside a huge boulder in Santiago de Cuba.

The former Cuban president will forever be remembered as a father, a revolutionary person, a public speaker, and a monumental historic figure.
