American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (A.F.S.P) is sponsoring “Out of the Darkness Walks” for suicide prevention on The event starts at 9:30 am and ends at 12:00 pm, Sep. 23, 2017 at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley CA, according to volunteermatch.org

The A.F.S.P’s goal is to reach $120,000 for suicide prevention, and has raised $105,840 so far. “Walking in Out of Darkness means joining hundreds of thousands walking to raise funds for the research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss,” according to ocweekly.com

Online registration is closed, but you can still register in person at the walk tomorrow from 8:00-9:30 am, according to voiceofoc.orgThe county’s per-capita rate of suicide jumped 45 percent between the three-year periods of 1999-2001 and 2011-2013, according to the analysis. This compares to an average increase of 22 percent nationwide during the same time frame.”
