Principal Dupont: “Surround Yourself with Good People who Motivate You to Always Improve”

If Mr. Dupont was not the assistant principal for El Dorado High School and the principal for PYLUSD’s 2016 Summer Enrichment Program he would actually be a killer whale trainer at Sea World.

‘’What fascinates me about marine life is it is so colorful and diverse. Plus I love to swim,” he explained.

Dupont does see some similarities between both careers. “I suppose since I can’t physically make a killer whale or a teacher do anything, I have to know how to work well with others.”

Dupont was inspired to become an assistant principal because he “ wanted to help an entire school perform well.’’ He has, however, found the challenge of being an assistant principal for the summer at Fairmont Elementary a nice change of pace. “ Since I work at a high school, I really enjoyed working with younger students for a change.”

Previous to his two years as assistant principal at El Dorado High School, Dupont taught Spanish from 2000 to 2009. He earned his bachelors degree from UC Santa Barbara, and his teaching credential, masters degree, and administrative credential from California State University at Fullerton.

In his spare time, Mr. Dupont enjoys cycling, crossfit and “spending time with my 11 month old daughter.”

Dupont has advice for students to be successful in school and life in general, “ Surround yourself with good people who motivate you to always improve.”
