Saltwater Brewery in Florida has found a way to prevent the deaths of some of the 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals and sea turtles that die each year with new biodegradable, edible, compostable six-pack rings that do not harm marine life or birds but are capable of handling the weight of a six-pack, reported mnn.com.

“Most plastic beer six‐pack rings end up in our oceans and pose a serious threat to wildlife. Together with WeBelievers, we ideated, designed, tested and prototyped the first ever Edible Six Pack Rings,” stated Saltwater Brewery, according to californiadiver.com.

“A six‐pack packaging, made with byproducts of the beer making process, that instead of killing animals, feeds them,” Saltwater Brewery added.

Saltwater Brewery believes that if more breweries participate in making edible rings, prices could go down and these rings will compete with plastic ones which will save aquatic lives, as stated in huffingtonpost.com.
