Upcoming Nintendo Games and Content

During a Nintendo Direct on November 12th, 2015, information on new games was revealed. The following are games for this year.

For Wii U owners should know that, Star Fox Zero will be released on April 22. Pokkén Tournament will come out in Spring and first print runs of the game will be bundled with a free Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD releases on March 4th, and a wolf link amiibo will be compatible for said game and the new Zelda game on Wii U will come out some time this year.

For 3DS owners some important information is that Fire Emblem Fates will release with standalone versions and with a special edition with all of its different versions called Birthright, Conquest, and Revelation all releasing on February 19th; along with upcoming DLC for the game, Mega Man Legacy Collection and a collector’s edition containing a Gold Mega Man amiibo, exclusive to the bundle; will be available on February 23, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will re-release on the 3DS Virtual Console with a new wireless trading feature on February 27th, Hyrule Warriors Legends will release on March 25th, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will launch in Summer along with Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King releasing sometime later in the year, and Project X Zone 2 will release on February 6th.

A Super Smash Bros. Special Broadcast was shown on December 15. The video showcased new things coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. In the video, Nintendo announced new characters such as Corrin and Bayonetta, as well as: new mii costumes; new amiibo; and new stages. Nintendo revealed that a new character called Corrin, will join the roster for smash. Corrin will cost $4.99 to buy him for a single console and will cost $5.99 for both a Wii U and 3DS. Along with that, Corrin’s, moveset was described in depth. Purchasing Corrin will also give 2 new songs for some Fire Emblem stages and the 3DS version of smash will exclusively get trophies of Ryoma and Xander from Fire Emblem Fates.

Shortly after, was the statement of a previously announced Mii costume which is a Chocobo hat, from the Final Fantasy series, alongside a new costume based on Geno from Super Mario RPG: The Legend of Seven Stars, and Cloud with the Midgar stage, both from Final Fantasy VII, to all be released in wave 5 DLC. After this, more Mii costumes were announced for a February release, those being: Bionic Armor; Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle; Ashley from the Warioware series; Gil from The Tower of Druaga; Tails and Knuckles from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Nintendo’s last new character announcement was Bayonetta and the stage, Umbra Clock Tower from the Bayonetta series would the final content to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. According to the Video, Bayonetta won the Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, which allowed fans to vote for characters to be in Smash. In Europe she took 1st place, in America she was in the top 5, and worldwide was the top voted character. Following her announcement was an explanation of her moves. Bayonetta and her stage will release sometime in February for $5.99 for a single console and $6.99 for both Wii U and 3DS. Purchasing her will also give the owner of the DLC, trophies of Jeanne, Rodin, and Cereza all from the Bayonetta franchise. Nintendo showcased, for the first time, Ryu; Roy; and Famicom R.O.B. amiibo in the video. amiibo are figures of characters that can be used in Nintendo games to unlock special content. Following, was the confirmation of Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta amiibo being in the works.
