Remember when you gave your mom macaroni necklaces, paper crowns, and handprint cards for Mother’s Day?  Well, now that you are beyond the age of ten, it’s time to up your game with something more sophisticated to show your appreciation for Mom.  Featured are a few sweet Mother’s Day treats that any kid could make for their mother.

Fruit Flowers

These fresh and edible fruit flowers can brighten up any Mother’s day.

You will need the following ingredients to make these flowers:

  1. Strawberries
  2. Black Grapes
  3. Pineapple
  4. Green Grapes
  5. Green toothpicks

Instructions:

  1. Start by cutting off the top of the strawberry down to the middle.
  2. Cut off the tip so the strawberry will stand
  3. Cut the black grapes in half and place them on the top of the strawberry to make it look like dirt.
  4. Cut flowers out of a slice of pineapple using a cookie cutter.
  5. Push one pineapple flower onto a green toothpick and poke the toothpick down the center of a strawberry.
  6. Cut the green grapes in half vertically, then half once more horizontally.
  7. Place the green grape pieces on top of the black grapes to make it look like leaves.

Banana Flower Pancakes

These beautiful pancakes not only provide a stunning presentation, but a wonderful taste.

You will need the following to make these cute pancakes:

  1. Pancakes
  2. Bananas
  3. Kiwis

Instructions:

  1. Place a stack of 3 pancakes on a plate.
  2. Slice up the bananas and kiwis in ½ inch slices.
  3. On each slice, use a flower shaped cookie cutter to cut out fruit flowers.
  4. Place a pile of fruit flowers on top and side of the pancakes.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Daisy Eggs

These daisy eggs will impress any Mother, with their delicate petals, and savory flavors.

You will need the following to make these flowers:

  1. 3 large or 6 small eggs
  2. 1 tablespoon heavy cream, half and half, or milk
  3. pinch of salt
  4. 3 green olives
  5. 6 slices of cooked bacon
  6. Wilton Silicone Daisy Mold

Instructions:

  1. Whisk all the eggs with a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream, half and half, or milk, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Spray a Wilton Silicone Daisy Mold with cooking spray.
  3. Equally divide the eggs in the 6 daisy cavities in a Wilton silicone Daisy Mold.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees until eggs are cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the eggs from the molds.
  6. Cut olive in half and set one in the center of each daisy egg.
  7. Cut a long thin strip along one edge of each piece of bacon. Cut a leaf from the remaining bacon. Arrange your scrambled egg flowers on a plate and add a stem with a leaf.

Daisy Biscuits

These cool biscuits are dressed to impress any Mother.

  1. store bought or homemade biscuit dough
  2. food coloring (yellow and green)
  3. paint brushes used only for food
  4. Flower Stamp Set

Instructions:

  1. Lightly paint food coloring onto the daisy stamp. Press it onto a biscuit dough round. Paint the stem stamp with green food coloring and press it onto the biscuit.
  2. Bake according to package or recipe instructions. They are ready to serve.

Fruit Flower Bouquets

Why buy flower bouquets that eventually die, when you can make these bouquets that delight the senses?

  1. Flower Fondant Cutters
  2. Pineapple, Cantaloupe, green grapes, strawberries
  3. skewers
  4. leaves from the pineapple
  5. small vase filled with sugar

Instructions:

  1. Use the flower cutters to cut out shapes from slices of pineapple and cantaloupe. Use the smallest flower cutter to cut out the center of the larger fruit flowers.
  2. Press a grape into the center of each flower.  One may have to cut around the sides of the grapes in order to get them to fit if they are too large.
  3. Insert a skewer into the fruit flowers and into some strawberries. Use different size skewers so you have various heights for making your bouquet.
  4. Filled a small glass vase with sugar and arranged the fruit flowers by pressing the skewers into the sugar. Add a few leaves from the pineapple to your arrangement.
