“I thought that it was a good dance. My standards were raised above the bar, especially for the first dance,” said seventh grader Gretel Davis after being asked about her impressions of the Bernardo Yorba Middle School “Welcome Back Dance” held on Friday September 20 at 3:30 p.m and sponsored by the BYMS instrumental music department with profits to be used for uniforms, equipment, fees, and awards.
This Hawaiian themed dance featured a DJ playing music, and activities such as limbo, ping-pong, and foosball.
“My initial impressions of the dance were that ASB worked very hard to host the event. I noticed that not everyone danced, but ASB had plans to make sure everyone had the opportunity to have fun through games and events at the dance,” stated BYMS Principal Fisher about her general impressions of the dance.
Students were also able to purchase snacks such as chips, popcorn, and candy as well as such beverages as slushies, sodas, and water.
Other activities available to students included taking photos with the photo booth, with students gathering with friends for photos with a paradise themed background constructed by the BYMS PTA 15 years ago.
The next dance is on October 25th and has the theme of “Black-Out.” This dance will be sponsored by the advanced drama class. Students are encouraged to wear neon or bright colors.
