BYMS hosted its third quarter Spirit Rally on May 30th to honor students who were presented on Bernardo’s honor roll list. Students on the list received a shirt to be expressed as one of the following students enlisted.

After each game, students were honored for either achieving bronze, silver, or gold. “I was so impressed with all the students with a 4.0 recognition,” stated BYMS principal, Ken Valburg, in an interview with the Matador Messenger.

Thirty-two students in the bronze category, 131 students in the silver category, and 354 students in the gold category were honored. Students are placed in either bronze, silver, or gold.

Kate Jacobson and Brandon Estell were honored as seventh-grade students of the quarter. Naya Williams and Spencer Ellison were awarded eighth-grade students of the quarter as well.

Students placed in bronze earn a GPA of 2.0 to 2.99, students placed in silver earn a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49, and students with a 3.5 to 4.0 GPA earn gold. Students honored must also have no N’s or U’s in their report cards for citizenship. Games were held during the Spirit Rally such as a watermelon eating contest, a water balloon toss, a water balloon baseball, and an obstacle course for the staff.

“My favorite part of the spirit rally was when all the teachers participated in the teacher obstacle course,” stated BYMS seventh grader, Allyson Young, in an interview with the Matador Messenger.
