The Lark Norman Memorial Library has closed any further book checkouts for Bernardo Yorba students as of May 26. However, returns are still accepted until June 2nd, according to byms.org.
During an interview with the Matador Messenger, Mrs. McCann, the school librarian, stated that “if a book is not returned by the end of the year, a student will miss out on activities such as 8th-grade promotion.”
“Books can still be turned in during the summer, however, if not returned, the student will not be allowed to register for next year’s school,” stated Mrs. McCann.
“Students will not be fined during the summer for the book, as long as they turn it in at some point. If a student loses a book, he or she needs to purchase another copy and give it to the Lark Norman Memorial Library,” said Mrs. McCann.
Student textbooks are required to be turned in as well. 8th-grade textbooks are required on June 5th-6th, while seventh are returned June 7th-8th, according to byms.org.
As a reminder, anyone that does not return a book past the deadline and over the summer will have the mistake permanently on their transcript, according to byms.org.
