Spring Time Brings State Testing at BYMS

Spring time brings blossoms, warmer weather, and also… state testing. California state testing for BYMS students will start on April 18 with science testing and will end May 22 in subjects language arts and math.

The week of April 17, Tuesday and Wednesday, will be science testing. May 1st is math practice testing, May 8th is ELA and math performance testing with ELA testing finishing on May 22. Students will be tested on ELA and math in their language arts and math classes.

The science test is new to this year to all students in California. “We don’t know much as this is the first time they are taking it,” stated Steve Marshall, BYMS Assistant Principal. “The subject matter has been covered in science classes and the format will mirror the math and language arts tests to some degree,” he added.

Bernardo Yorba has been a strong school as far as test scores, and we are always looking to improve. Our teachers, staff and students work hard to perform on all of our tests, but especially our state testing,” stated Assistant Principal Steve Marshall.
