BYMS will be holding its annual sixth grade parent night from 6:45 p.m to 8 p.m on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
“The showcase allows our school to show off all of the many great things about BYMS including our core and elective classes, clubs, and activities so that parents are excited to send their students here,” stated Mr. Valburg, BYMS Principal.
The showcase allows incoming sixth-grade parents to see the different clubs, activities, and programs BYMS offers.
“The benefits are for parents to experience the broad range of clubs, activities, and programs offered at BYMS. They will also observe the fine student body at work and their overwhelming enthusiasm related to their passions,” stated Mr. Kish, BYMS Activities Director, ASB Teacher, and language arts teacher.
“The evening will start in the MPR with performances by the jazz band and choir, and with presentations about electives and the transition from elementary school to middle school. Afterward, the parents will be invited to go out to the quad to talk to teachers and students who will share about classes, curriculum, clubs, and activities available at Bernardo,” stated Mr. Valburg.
Drama and both vocal departments will perform as well, according to Mr. Kish.
Parents will have the opportunity to ask students first-hand of their experiences in the different classes/programs.
“I want them to know that these programs are of the highest quality and are taught by professionals in their fields. All of our programs work together in order to help create the most positive school climate possible,” stated Mr. Kish.
“I would like parents to know that Bernardo provides students a challenging and rigorous academic program that prepares students for high school in a setting where the staff cares about them so that they want to come to school,” stated Mr. Valburg.
