Student Teachers “Master” Their Craft at BYMS
Dellalonga, Estep, Harrison, Tredick, teach social studies, P.E, language arts, and band
Lesson planning, attending classes, teaching classes, grading papers, contacting parents, and then starting all over again the next day. Such is the life of a student teacher, at one moment a student and another a teacher, but always working as a professional. Bernardo Yorba this year has 4 “student” teachers, Keith Dellalonga, Tresa Harrison, Parker Tredick, and Taylor Estep.
Mr. Dellalonga currently is student teaching for Mr. Seitz in history. Before he started student teaching he got a bachelor in Liberal Studies at CSUF. He currently is attending national university. “I always wanted to teach.” In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family and his 7th-grade daughter and 9th-grade son.
Mrs. Harrison is currently student teaching for Mrs. Perez’s in language arts. Before she started student teaching, Mrs. Harrison graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History.
“I spent three of my college years as an 8th grade AVID tutor at Norco Intermediate, and that is when I realized that I love working with middle school students. I love being in the classroom, watching students learn and grow. It means so much to me to be able to make a difference in any one person’s life.” Outside of student teaching Mrs. Harrison enjoys spending time with her family.
Mr. Tredick is student teaching for Mr. Spoonhower in social studies. In January of 2016, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Fullerton. He currently is in the Credential Program at CSUF.
Outside of teaching Mr. Tredick enjoys playing basketball, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends. “Teaching is something I have wanted to do since I was in fifth grade.”
Mr. Estept is a student teacher for Mrs. Watson in instrumental Music. He currently has a Bachelor’s Degree in music education for CSUF. He also studied drums and percussion from the Principal Percussionist of the Pacific Symphony.
“I wanted to give children the same high-quality music experience I had in school and help them achieve their highest potential in playing a musical instrument,” stated Mr. Estep. While he is not teaching, He enjoys performing as a freelance musician, hanging out with friends, and going to the mountains for skiing and hiking.

I was in language arts with Mrs. Harrisonand she is an amazing teacher. I am currently in classes with Mr. Tredick who is really helping my sixth period science class be more successful. And Mr. Dellalonga in a great history teacher and has patience with students but also gives us discipline when we need it.

I like the article, especially since I am currently in two classes with these student teachers. I would like to know what the student teachers plan on teaching in their own classrooms. I would also like to add that Mr. Estep teaches orchestra, too. I like the essay and hope to continue to see more good work from the matador messenger team.
