BYMS Helps Donate Canned Food for Second Harvest

Students are being encouraged to bring to their fourth period classes soup cans,can vegetables, tuna and other nonperishable goods for the BYMS Can Food Drive , being held from December 5th through December 16th, according to Mr. Keith Kish, BYMS Leadership Adviser.
All collected cans will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank for Orange County families in need. “Food drives are vital for the community we serve,” reports the Second Harvest Food Bank, according to www.feedoc.org.”With the help of 180 community partners, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County feeds more than 200,000 individuals per month at locations throughout the country,” explains the website.
People in all types of situations can benefit from food collected and given to Second Harvest including “ the working poor, children, seniors on fixed incomes, single parents, the disabled, the homeless, and individuals experiencing medical emergencies, or recent job layoffs,” adds the Second Harvest webpage.
“BYMS is sponsoring the food drive because there are people that do not have the necessities that we have. Now that we are are donating students will feel good that they are making a difference,”
