Bernardo Yorba Middle School kicked off the school year with a Color Run Fundraiser assembly held in the multipurpose room August 30th.

The Color Run is similar to a jog-a-thon with a purpose to raise funds for the school.

Students will walk or run laps for 30 minutes on a 100 meter track. People will pledge a dollar for every lap ran. Most students will walk or run between 25 and 30 laps. People can donate $1 for every lap ran by a student. There will be a 25 lap minimum (if a student runs less than 25 laps) and a 35 lap maximum (if a student runs more than 35 laps), explained byms.org.

Prizes are awarded based on a student’s total Dollars Per Lap which is the sum of Dollars Per Lap from Flat Pledges and online Pledges. Dollar Per Lap Pledges are only provided online at ultrafunrun.com, where as a Flat Pledge is a specific amount of money, provided as cash, check, or online, according to byms.org.

“I thought this fundraiser provides an opportunity for students to have fun while raising money for our school,” stated Mr. Kish a language arts teacher, activities’ director, and the yearbook teacher at BYMS.

Several changes from last year to this year include the prices required for different prizes. “I think the changes are good. They are simple and easy to understand,” according to Mr. Kish.
