“Both the band and the orchestra did a wonderful job,”stated Mrs. Rita Watson  BYMS Band Director, on how she felt about how the students played in the PYLUSD Performing Arts Center (PAC) at El Dorado High School, Monday February 29, 2016 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Orchestra performed “Blazing Bows of the West”,“The Ides of March”, “Impravada”, “Capriccio Español” (with a solo by Matthew Yee), and “Tropical Serenade”. While band students played “Heroes Triumphant”, “Hercules vs. the Hydra”, “Dragon Flight”, “The Phantom Herd Across The Western Sky”, and “Disney’s Magical Marches”.

“I picked some music that was very difficult.  Some of this music is really high school level literature.  The students worked very hard to get the music prepared.  They should feel very good about this concert, and I feel very proud to be their conductor”, said Mrs.Watson. The main reason this concert held to show the parents of band and string students in the performance can see how much they have learned and to play at El Dorados $11 million auditorium.

“I thought that the trumpet and clarinet sections did very well during the concert, with a few minor mess-ups, of course. Although, I was very disappointed in the behavior of the band during the orchestra part of the concert,” commented  James Shields, an eighth grade  student in BYMS’ Wind Ensemble first period.
