The 4th annual ShamRock n’ Run is again being sponsored by the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation, a non-profit organization assisting PYLUSD schools, and St. Joseph Health on March 6 at Yorba Regional Park.

Register now during the Early Bird registration to get a deal on the fee. Early Bird Registration ends on February 7, and participants receive t-shirt.

The ShamRock n’ Run is a 5K timed, certified run and 2K fun run/walk. Free food will be served to all participants. If you sign up for the 2K run, you will receive a free pancake breakfast. The 5K run participants are let into the “Leprechaun Lounge” with food samples from many local restaurants such as Craftsman Pizza, Mother’s Market, Kimmie’s, Green 2 Go, and Macaroni Grill. A professional DJ and entertainment will be provided. Also, a business expo, and a kids zone with games and crafts will be contributed.

When participants register online, the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation will donate $5 of the fee to the school of their choice. Just scroll down to find a school. “This is a great way to fundraise for your school’s special projects,” Stephanie Vande Kappelle from the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation says. Over 1,200 participants are expected this year, and the proceeds from the ShamRock n’ Run pays for the PYLUSD Middle School Track Meet that is also in March.

The ShamRock-n-Run is an event designed to bring the Placentia & Yorba Linda communities together to support our school district.  It is fun and it promotes health and fitness.  When we join together then everyone benefits,” said Mr. Valburg, the BYMS Principal. “It is a fun community event that promotes a healthy lifestyle. It’s also a great way to support our school and school district. Also, it gives students a chance to leave me in their dust! I’m not to fast,” stated Mr. Marshall, the BYMS Vice Principal.

Mr. Marshall and Mr. Valburg both stated that BYMS has benefited from the R.E.A.C.H Foundation. “The REACH Foundation supports and organizes the Middle School Track Meet in which BYMS students participate. Indirectly, the REACH Foundation helped bring back music to 4th grade students which will strengthen our music program when those students enter 7th grade,” Mr. Valburg said, and Mr. Marshall stated, “They support several programs throughout the district. The big one for us is the Middle School Track Meet. They pay for us to have that opportunity. The students involved have a lot of fun.”

Sign up for the 2016 ShamRock n’ Run today to help raise funds for schools in the PYLUSD District. Registration flyers are available in the BYMS library. For more information go to the R.E.A.C.H. Foundation website.
