BYMS 4 Word Momentum Workshop Inspires Students to Leave Bullying Behind
They call it a workshop because “You do work but it is fun work.” stated Geoff McLachlan , the speaker at the 4 Word Momentum Workshop which was attended by 175 BYMS seventh grade students on Thursday and Friday November 5th and 6th in the BYMS Multi Purpose Room (MPR).
The 4 Word Monument (4WM) is a 5 hour program that travles to 150 different middle schools during the school year. The 4WM is comprised of 4 words: Courage, Value, Safety, and Kindness.
The assembly consisted of many different activities and learning such as group work, and inspirational stories. “I thought it was funny but in the end, I thought it was very emotional,” stated Jessica Yu, a current 7th grade student at BYMS.
“This has taught me to fix my bad habits, and I think this would be fun to do again in the future,” stated Dorsa Ferdosian a BYMS seventh grader. Many kids learned new things.
“The students were focused and learned a great deal about themselves and positive decision making,” explained Mr. Kish BYMS ASB Director and language arts teacher at BYMS. The BYMS Principal, Mr. Ken Valburg, stated that he felt that the workshop was “very significant and meaningful.”
