“I thought it went very well. Students played well and the packed house enjoyed it so much!” commented Bernardo Yorba Band Director, Rita Watson about the performances by the BYMS beginning, intermediate, advanced band, intermediate and advanced orchestras during their annual “Winter Concert” at the Tommy Lasorda Field House, held Thursday December 11.

The night started out with the Jazz band playing “Ye Jazzy Gentleman”, “Hark, Those Herald Angels Rock!”, and “Good King Wenceslas.”

The Beginning Band performed “Jingle Bells”, “Kwanzaa Celebration”, and “A Christmas Fanfare.”

The Intermediate Orchestra performed “Westminster Chimes”, “We Three Kings”, and “Jingle Bells.”

Intermediate Band played Let it Snow, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and African Noel.

Advanced Orchestra and Chamber Strings plated ‘Tis the Season, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Pacem Noel, Light the Candles, and Rockin’ Up the Housetop.

Wind Ensemble and Concert Band performed “The Colors of Christmas”, “Scherzo for Santa”, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, “Silver Bells”, and “Sleigh Ride.”

When questioned about how much time and effort went into preparing for the concert she stated, “Some classes have been working on this music for a couple of months. Others have only had about a month to prepare for the Winter Concert.”
