BYMS Board Game Club to Challenge Students

“I have always enjoyed playing classic board games, but in recent years I have been introduced to many new types of games including Euro or designer games,” said BYMS math teacher, Mrs. Stack. “Mr. Fain and I thought that students might enjoy these games as well. With the help of Mrs. McCann and the support of, we have been able to acquire games and prepare the games for student play.”

Mrs. Stack and Mr. Fain hope that any student who is interested in learning and playing new board games will be able to attend the Bernardo Board Game Club meetings on Tuesdays, starting November 18, in the math building.

They are looking forward to introducing students to some of the new award- winning games that have been created and designed in Europe and The United States. “

At our first meetings, we will be playing Dixit, a French-made card game created in 2009, and King of Tokyo, an American designed tabletop game released in 2011. We are looking at playing some of the gateway Euro games in later sessions,”

The Bernardo Board Game Club will be having meetings on the following Tuesdays: November 18, December 16, January 20, February 17, March 17, April 21, and May 19. The meetings will start right after school and end at 4:00.

“We know that this is not a lot of time for game playing, but hopefully this will spark student interest to get together with friends outside of school to play board games,” said Mrs. Stack.
