“ I’ve always enjoyed working with middle school students,” stated new Bernardo Yorba Middle School Principal Mr. Ken Valburg, “ I am very happy to be here and to be a part of this very special school.”
Mr. Valburg has been in education for 28 years, and during that time he taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. He has been assistant principal for 3 years and an elementary school principal for 18 years.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Mr. Valburg worked on farms and lumber mills in Oregon and worked at a summer camp as a lifeguard. He drove forklift in warehouses to put himself through college.
Mr. Valburg’s interests include spending time with his family (his wife, Debbie, his son, Ethan, his daughter, Claire, and his dog, Jasper.) Mr. Valburg also enjoys the “big outdoors.” He likes to fish, hunt, camp, and backpacking. He enjoys to read as well.
” I will inspire the students of BYMS by acknowledging and celebrating students who achieve at high levels behaviorally and academically,” stated Mr. Valburg. “Currently, I will also acknowledge and celebrate teachers that inspire students to reach their potential. I will also work with teachers to help support students who have difficulty in their classes, ” he added
