Family Sues Apple After Car Crash Kills Their Five Year Old Daughter

A Texas family is suing Apple after their daughter died in a fatal car crash when the alleged driver was on the Apple app “Facetime” on December 24, 2014.

The couple said that had the app had a detection system to tell when somebody driving, it would not have distracted Garrett Wilhelm, who is being charged with manslaughter according to

The couple’s argument is that “Apple should to warn users that the product was likely to be dangerous when used or misused.”

After a traffic buildup in Dallas, the family stopped, and the driver in a Toyota 4Runner smashed and rolled over them from behind. The Fire Dept. had to cut out the father and the daughter from the car, stated the couple’s lawyer, as reported by The Washington Post.

Although the accident happened in 2014, the lawsuit began on Christmas Eve 2016 and the couple has yet to get a legal response from Apple in January of 2017, reported by Google News.
