Huge Explosion Rocks Seattle Neighborhood

A massive explosion ripped through a seattle neighborhood early Wednesday obliterating at least one building, damaging many others and sending nine firefighters who’d been investigating a gas leak to a hospital, reported Daily Mail

During this explosion, there were a total of 9 fire fighters that were injured on an early Wednesday. They were investigating a gas leak, but, they were sent to the hospital. While they were recovering, their colleagues–  at least 67 personnel including firefighters, commanders and medics — remained in the commercial part of the city’s Greenwood neighborhood to address lingering flames and smoke, reported CNN.com

“We haven’t been able to go through the rubble right now,” fire Chief Harold Scoggins told reporters around 6 a.m.. “You can see our firefighters are still putting water on the fire, the gas is still leaking as we speak.” statedCNN.com

Seattle fire investigators are still trying to pinpoint what ignited a gas leak resulting in an explosion that destroyed three businesses, damaged 33 others. During an afternoon news conference next to the debris, Murray said police planned to increase patrols in the area to provide extra security, reported King5.com
